The International Parliamentary Campaign in Defence of Ashraf and Liberty

'Secret' burials of Ashraf dead reported

THE government of Iraq has "secretly" buried the bodies of 52 Camp Ashraf residents, killed in September last year (News, 13 September), the International Parliamentary Campaign in Defence of Ashraf and Liberty reported last week. "The government of Iraq, in an inhuman and callous act . . . has denied the families the opportunity to bury their loved ones with dignity and in accordance with their faith," a statement said.

Anglicans are encouraged to join carbon fast

THE Anglican Communion Environmental Network is urging Anglicans to undertake a "carbon fast" this Lent. A free guide sets out ways in which participants can reduce their carbon use, including using seasonal ingredients. carbonfast2014.wordpress.com

Chinese house-church members are arrested

A PROTESTANT pastor and 11 members of his church in China remain in detention, three weeks after the Holy Love Fellowship house church was raided last month, Christian Solidarity Worldwide reported on Monday. The pastor, Xu Yonghai, has been accused of participation in demonstrations and illegal assembly.
