Anglicans in Jerusalem and the Middle East

From the Bishop in Cyprus & the Gulf

Sir, - The Revd Dominic Barrington's account of his visit to a wrecked Gaza (News, 17 October) was vivid and timely. But his invitation was not from a "diocese of Jerusalem and the Middle East", as the strapline said.

That name belongs to our whole Province, which includes the dioceses in Egypt (with North Africa & the Horn of Africa); Iran; and Cyprus & the Gulf, stretching from Iraq to the Yemen. The diocese in Jerusalem, tout court, covers Palestine and Israel, Jordan, the Lebanon, and Syria.

There is much suffering but also much joy in our multi-ethnic, multi-national Province. As you pray for Gaza and Jerusalem, please pray for us all.
