Details of the “White Alleluia” chasuble, from an exhibition of embroidered liturgical vestments by Helena Wintour (b. 1600), at Auckland Castle, Co. Durham. Mistress Wintour was the daughter and niece of three Wintour brothers who were executed in 1606 for their part in the Gunpowder Plot the previous year. After their deaths, Helena devoted her life to prayer, charitable works, and liturgical embroidery. Until 11 April 2016. Phone 01388 743750
