From Mr Howard Reeve

Sir, — When we moved from Hertfordshire to Wales 25 years ago, we hit on a strategy that might have helped Ted Harrison (Comment, 25 September), as an initial church assessment. We sent a generous number of postage stamps to local clergy with a request to send copies of recent church magazines.

Only one replied; so that is where we eventually went. The others presumably regarded the stamps as a gift.
