The 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Reformation is being marked this year by a touring exhibition, music, and debates around Europe. Five centuries after Martin Luther pinned Ninety-five Theses to the Castle Church door in Wittenberg, Germany, a “Storymobile” — a 28-ton articulated lorry (pictured) — has visited Cambridge, Liverpool, and London on a tour of 19 countries before May. The tour started in Geneva, headquarters of the World Council of Churches and the Lutheran World Federation, and ends in Berlin and Wittenberg. The Rector of the Norwegian Church in London, the Revd Torbjørn Holt, who chairs the Council of Lutheran Churches, said: “We look forward to reflecting on this history . . . on a path from past conflict to future communion.” Other events that have been planned include an ecumenical pilgrimage to Walsingham, in Norfolk, on 14 March.
