Your questions:

I read with interest the recent letter from the Dean of the Arches (18 May) concerning the role and responsibilities of a diocesan advisory committee. I wonder whether one of your readers could add to that information by detailing the role and responsibilities of the local planning authority when dealing with proposed work to a listed Grade I church in a conservation area. I have recently come across some confusion about the respective roles, and it would be good to know the correct position.
