Canon Paul Simmonds writes:
WITH a good deal of patience, the Revd Peter Townsend (Gazette, 3 May) willingly helped me to improve my handwriting, after an essay had been rejected by the professorial staff. His kindness and love of people was also shown by his assistance in helping to provide holidays for the disabled during the long vacations.
Peter had the most glorious bass singing voice and could have become a professional singer. Together, we were able to entertain with duets while students at KCL. He will be remembered fondly by many.
