Bishop of Lynn to retire

THE Rt Revd Jonathan Meyrick, Suffragan Bishop of Lynn in Norwich diocese, since 2011, is to retire on 25 January 2021, three months before his 69th birthday.

He chairs the diocese’s Social, Community and Environmental Concerns Forum, the Children, Youth and Families Forum, and supports the Norfolk Criminal Justice Forum. He is a trustee of St Seraphim’s Chapel, Walsingham, and of the Horstead Centre, a residential activity centre for children and young people.

Prior to his consecration, he was Dean of Exeter, and before that Acting Dean of Rochester. In his 45 years of ministry, he has also served in Salisbury and Oxford dioceses; and is a former Tutor of Codrington College, Barbados.

Bishop Meyrick and his wife, Rebecca, a pallative-care nurse, will retire to north Oxfordshire.
