Hull retirement

THE Suffragan Bishop of Hull, in York diocese, the Rt Revd Alison White, is to retire in February. She was consecrated bishop in July 2015, the second woman to the episcopate.

In York diocese, Bishop White has served as Ambassador for Prayer and Spirituality and for Urban Life and Faith, leading the team that launched Mustard Seed, the diocesan initiative to build worshipping communities in deprived areas.

Before this, she served in parishes in Durham and as Diocesan Director of Ordinands, and was the Director of Pastoral Studies at Cranmer Hall, also. Posts in Peterborough included Diocesan Education Officer, before becoming Hon. Canon Theologian of Sheffield Cathedral (2010-15). She also served in Newcastle diocese from 2011 to 2015.

Bishop White and her husband, the Rt Revd Frank White, a former bishop of Brixworth, in Peterborough diocese, plan to retire to Northumberland.

 

St Andrews dean

THE Very Revd Kenneth Rathband, Dean of St Andrews, Dunkeld & Dunblane diocese since 2007, and Rector of Holy Trinity Dunfermline, since 2018, retired on 31 August. Dean Rathband was ordained priest in 1987 and served in the dioceses of Brechin and Edinburgh, as well as St Andrews, Dunkeld & Dunblane.

His successor as Dean is the Very Revd Graham Taylor, Rector of St John the Baptist, Perth, since 2014, and Canon of St Ninian’s Cathedral, Perth, since 2019, in the same diocese. Canon Taylor was ordained priest in 2002 and served in Aberdeen & Orkney diocese in parishes and as Diocesan Director of Ordinands, before taking up his current post. 

BEER. The Revd Nigel Beer, Rural Dean of Carlisle: 27 November, remaining Vicar of Stanwix (Carlisle).

BERRY. The Revd Anthony Berry, Rector of Abinger and Coldharbour and Wotton and Holmbury St Mary (Guildford): 30 September.

COPE. The Revd Patricia Cope, NS Assistant Curate (Associate Priest) of Rostherne with Bollington, of High Legh and of Over Tabley (Chester): 31 January 2022.

FRANCIS. The Revd Sharon Francis, Vicar of New Groombridge, and Rural Dean of Rotherfield (Chichester).

INESON. The Revd Matthew Ineson, Priest-in-Charge of Crosscrake, Interim Priest-in-Charge of Holy Trinity with All Hallows’ Chapel, Kendal, and Assistant Rural Dean of Kendal (Carlisle).

JEANES. The Revd Dr Gordon Jeanes, Vicar of St Anne with St Faith, Wandsworth (Southwark): 9 November.

MAPIMHIDZE. The Revd Helkias Mapimhidze (Assistant Curate of Broadwell, Evenlode, Oddington, Adlestrop and Westcote with Icomb and Bledington (Gloucester).

MARSH. The Revd Leonard Marsh, Vicar of All Saints with St Margaret, Upper Norwood (Southwark): 1 October.

MASSEY. The Revd Alison Massey, Rector of Fillongley and Corley (Coventry): 31 October.

OSBORNE. The Revd Graham Osborne, Rector of Leatherhead and Mickleham (Guildford): 27 October.

PAGE. The Revd Jacqueline Page, NS Assistant Curate (Associate Minister) of St Andrew and St George, Stevenage (St Albans).

TAYLOR. The Revd Paul Taylor, Rector of Brailsford with Shirley, Osmaston with Edlaston and Yeaveley (Derby): 19 February 2022.

WEAKLEY. The Revd Susan Weakley, Hon. Priest-in-Charge of Charlwood and of Sidlow Bridge (Southwark): 8 October.

WHEATLEY. The Revd Fiona Wheatley, Rector of the Kingswood Benefice (St Albans): 30 November.

WISE. The Revd Pamela Wise, Vicar of All Saints’, Oxhey, and Hon. Canon of St Albans Cathedral (St Albans): 31 October.
