Tuesday 9pm (BBC4) Lucy Worsley’s Christmas Carol Odyssey A look at the carol, from strict Protestant Britain to the story of “Silent Night” (repeat).

 

RADIO: Sunday 8.10am (R4) Sunday Worship The RC Archbishop of Cardiff and Bishop of Menevia, the Most Revd Mark O’Toole, leads a service from St David’s Metropolitan Cathedral, Cardiff, for Gaudete Sunday.

10.30am (World Service) Heart and Soul An exploration of life as a third-generation Jew in present-day Poland.

3pm (R3) Choral Evensong A repeat of this week’s service from Salisbury Cathedral to mark the bicentenary of the birth of César Franck.

Wednesday 4pm (R3) Choral Evensong From Tewkesbury Abbey, recorded on 1 December.

Thursday 11pm (R3) Compline From Dunstable Priory, with St Martin’s Voices.
