More than 500 singers performed choruses from Handel’s oratorio Messiah for 24 hours at St George’s, Hanover Square, in London, this month. Attending on a “drop-in” basis, singers made a donation to raise money for repairs to the Grade I listed portico of the church that Handel visited when in London. The composer and choral director John Rutter was one of the conductors for the event, organised by Labrador Events and live-streamed by the Royal School of Church Music. Total donations have so far reached more than £10,000
