Meon appointment

THE next Archdeacon of Meon, in Portsmouth diocese, is to be the Revd Kathryn Percival, Vice-Dean and Canon Chancellor of Portsmouth Cathedral since 2019. She was ordained priest in 2011 and served her title in Southwark diocese, where she remained until taking up her current posts. Before ordination, she was a barrister, working in civil litigation. Her husband, James, is a Royal Navy Chaplain. She succeeds Canon William Hughes, who has been Acting Archdeacon for two years.

Suffolk post

THE next Archdeacon of Suffolk is to be the Revd Richard Henderson, Rector of Beccles with Worlingham, North Cove and Barnby since 2021, Rural Dean of Waveney and Blyth since 2020, and an Hon. Canon of St Edmundsbury Cathedral since 2020. He was ordained priest in 2007 served his title in Beccles, and has continued his ministry in the diocese.

Interim archdeacon

THE Revd James Shakespeare, Vicar of St John the Evangelist, Cambridge, since 2021, Bishop’s Spirituality Adviser since 2021, and Assistant Diocesan Director of Ordinands since 2019, is to be Interim Archdeacon of Cambridge from 11 April. He will cover the Ven. Dr Alexander Hughes’s sabbatical leave. Fr Shakespeare was ordained priest in 2000, served his title at his current parish, and served in Leicester diocese from 2002 until 2017 when he returned to Ely diocese.
