The Revd Gerald Hovenden writes:
CANON Struan Dunn was Team Rector in the South Gillingham Team Ministry when I was appointed as his first Team Vicar, in 1990. I had been a chaplain for five years to the English-speaking community of Rhône-Alps of France. Struan had also been a chaplain in Barcelona for a similar period; so we had that overseas experience in common. This boded well for our working closely together.
Struan was a great leader, colleague, pastor, and friend, lovingly supported by his wife, Sylvia.
Struan became Rural Dean of Gillingham, and the Team then welcomed another Team Vicar and an assistant curate, Tony Oehring and Bryan Knapp respectively. Led by Struan, the team was marked by prayer, sold Bible teaching, and love for people in the parishes. Laughter was also a feature — lots of it.
Struan’s infectious humour will be missed, as will his faith and optimism, all of which were an inspiration to me in my future ministry.
Struan is now with the Lord, whom he loved and served.
